Citrus County, on the Gulf Coast, has long been referred to as the “Golf Coast” due to the over 20 world class golf courses in the surrounding area. In fact, five of our Citrus County area golf courses have been ranked in the top 100 in the country by Golf Digest Magazine.
Those golf courses ranked in the top five include Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Southern Woods Golf and Country Club in Homosassa, two courses located at World Woods (Rolling Oaks and Pine Barrons) just south of the Citrus County line, and El Diablo in Citrus Springs.
Black Diamond Ranch is a private, gated community with one of the most spectacular golf courses anywhere, offering 45 of the most amazing and challenging holes of golf you will ever experience.

The golf course, designed by Tom Fazio is carved into an abandoned limestone quarry and provides some of the most breathtaking views and stunning landscaping a golfer could ever hope to encounter. With the famous quarry course, Black Diamond remains one of the top-ranked courses in the world.

Southern Woods Golf and Country Club was nominated by Golf Digest Magazine as the Best New Private Course in 1993.
Offering flat, wide fairways with thick rough, and large challenging greens, Southern Woods is located within Sugarmill Woods, a pristine "green-belt" community in Homosassa, Florida.
In Brooksville you will find World Woods providing two of the most challenging 18-hole golf courses in the United States. World Woods offers a world class practice facility that was nominated by Sports Illustrated Magazine as "the best range in the world".
Their Pine Barrons course advertises “the final five holes could be the toughest stretch in the South.” Alongside this practice facility lays two courses both ranked in the Top 100. Rolling Oaks was ranked 63rd in 1999 and Pine Barrons was ranked 9th in 1999. World Woods is truly one of the most rewarding golfing experiences you will ever enjoy. |

Other golf courses in the Citrus County area include Skyview at Terra Vista, and El Diablo Golf Club in Citrus Springs, the Dunes Golf Club at Seville, and Sugarmill Woods Golf and Country Club in Homosassa.
The Skyview golf course at Terra Vista is the newest addition to the Villages of Citrus Hills. The Skyview golf course is located on the second highest elevation in Central Florida. It has been said that Skyview may be the best "hidden secrets" in Citrus County.

In Citrus Springs Florida, you'll find yourself being lured into the pits of El Diablo. Forcing you to bring your best game, this course is a challenge for the body and an incredible stimulus for the imagination. It snakes through majestic oaks, forests thick with pines and rolling hills.
With a relaxing and unhurried atmosphere of dramatic elevation changes, fairways carved through rich and lush pine forests, bunkers so steep and deep you will think you are across the pond, and greens as fast and undulating as any in Florida.. Golf Digest calls El Diablo “the best new affordable public golf course in America”..
